It’s been a long time since I last wrote a post for SOLE 2 SOLE and this is likely to be my last entry. This post is specially dedicated to our customers and our fans, some of whom have become personal friends of mine.
The last few years have seen me working on pivoting the business from a retail brick and mortar store with an online presence to a digital marketing consultancy. Yes, you read right.
A lot of soul searching went into the decision. There were two main factors that made me decide to make the career switch:
Business: The business model we had was no longer sustainable given the challenging retail climate in Singapore. High rents, increasing operating costs, and changing shopping patterns were just some of the factors to consider. Also, as a distributor, we faced increasing competition from the brand owners themselves when they launched their own online stores. In short, we could not continue on.
Personal: Things were also happening on the personal front. My mother has Parkinson’s and while for many years we were able to control the condition with medication, it was getting worse. So I decided to take a break from the corporate role I was in at the time to help out with her care. It made me think of how I could possibly continue with her care while carving out a new career for myself.
Given the circumstances, it was important for me to have flexibility around my work schedule. This led me to update my knowledge in digital marketing as it was a skill I knew that would allow me to work from anywhere. #wfa

In the meantime, I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to YOU for being such a fan of SOLE 2 SOLE all these years.
I have given our website a new face lift and will keep this site up for as long as the business name exists. SOLE 2 SOLE couldn’t have existed without you and we hope you enjoy our little tribute to you, our fans.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of me and my team’s journey. We really miss the fun days of being in the shop, especially the little conversations and giggles held with our customers.
We hope we created some happy memories for you, as you have done for us.
