A little story on how it all started……
Andrea Claire, Hair Stylist & Makeup Artist
SOLE 2 SOLE is more than just a shoe shop, it’s a lifestyle shop. While our core products are shoes and bags, what is important to us is the whole experience of delighting our customers.
This starts from our selection – we choose brands that are quirky, fun and have good design. Comfort is key as well as being value for money.
We brought in ‘new-to-market’ brands like French Sole, Lulu Guinness and United Nude. Through the years, we’ve seen these companies change their management teams and are very proud to have been part of the international growth of these brands by building their presence in Singapore
We took a leap of faith to set up shop in the quiet Mandarin Hotel Arcade. We started with a tiny 300 sq. ft. shop; in 2006 we moved to a unit double the size down the corridor, allowing us to feature a wider range of bags and accessories, and a selection of men’s shoes.
In 2008, Mandarin Hotel Arcade was refurbished into the current Mandarin Gallery. SOLE 2 SOLE moved to our new home at Millenia Walk where we stayed for the next 5 years.
Core Brand Portfolio
Founded and designed by London-Chelsea based designer Jane Winkworth in 1989. With a passion for ballet and ballerina-style shoes, and with a background of art, painting and design, French Sole was the first ever conceptual company selling only ballet flats.
Quirky, fun and eclectic, British handbag designer Lulu Guinness is famous for her iconic lip clutches, on top of a plethora of statement-making bags and accessories you’d want to keep as family heirloom. Some of her works are exhibited in the Royal V&A Museum.
Founded by Dutch architect Rem D. Koolhaas and Galahad Clark from the world renowned Clark’s shoes family, United Nude has grown into a worldwide team of creative minds. The shoe designs are inspired by an architectural idea or an existing design project, like a chair.
SOLE 2 SOLE was founded by Lynette Lim in 2004.
The store is Lynette’s dream come to life. She loves being surrounded by beautiful and fun things; and had always dreamt of a little shop that sold wonderfully colourful products that brought cheer to one’s heart.
So given her previous career was involved in brand management, retail operations and merchandising for a luxury Italian footwear brand, it was easy to set up SOLE 2 SOLE.
Simply put, Lynette translated her dream of providing good design, fun, quirky and yet classy merchandise that would bring joy to customers, into a reality.
